So what exactly started this feud? On August 23, Brittany Aldean posted a makeup video with a controversial caption. She thanked her parents for not changing her gender during her “tomboy phase” and expressed her love for her feminine lifestyle. These remarks were seen as transphobic by many.
In response to the backlash, Brittany shared her thoughts on transgender youth and their rights to gender-affirming care via Instagram Stories. She argued against advocating for what she called “gender affirming care,” believing that it amounts to “genital mutilation” of children.
Brittany claimed that some parents are too focused on societal acceptance and are willing to make life-altering decisions for their young children without considering the long-term consequences. She expressed gratitude that her parents allowed her to explore her tomboy phase without pressuring her to change her gender.
Naturally, these comments drew criticism from Morris, Pope, and others in the country music community. But Brittany said her comments were taken out of context. When she appeared on Carlson’s show, she reiterated that she was simply advocating for the well-being of children.
