Rescued owl makes miraculous recovery
A wildlife center in Pennsylvania has successfully treated a great horned owl after a traumatic experience. An owl named Lucky was rescued from a manure hole and lay there for two days. The poor creature was weakened by dehydration and covered in a layer of hardened manure that required several baths to clean.
A Long Road to Recovery
Upon his arrival at the Raven Ridge Animal Centre, Lucky required immediate care and attention. Wildlife rehabilitator Tracie Young, who lovingly looked after the owl, described his condition as “subdued” due to the exhaustion from his ordeal. Moreover, Lucky had suffered severe eye trauma, with a steel BB found lodged in his eye. It was later revealed that he had been illegally shot with a BB gun.
The rescuers had to patiently wait for the blood in Lucky’s eye to be absorbed by his body to assess the extent of the damage. In the meantime, Lucky received the necessary fluids and was tube-fed. Bathing him was also essential for his recovery process. Despite the challenges, the owl’s resilience was astonishing.

Following thorough examination, the rescuers discovered the incredible news – Lucky had not suffered any permanent damage to his eye or loss of vision.
