King Charles’ Coronation has finally passed after much fanfare and anticipation.
He and Camilla were crowned on Saturday afternoon at Westminster Abbey in front of a large and distinguished audience that included royalty from all over the world and important world leaders. The majority, if not the entire, British Royal Family was present, of course. That included Prince Harry, whose potential attendance had previously piqued the interest of the public, the media, and probably even the royal family.
Harry, who is notable for not entering Westminster Abbey with his brother, Prince William, instead entered the revered building with other family members. Before the senior royals arrived, the Duke had the chance to speak with some of his relatives, and according to a lip reader, he shared a pretty robust outlook on what the future will hold for his relationship with King Charles and Prince William.
At least for supporters of the monarchy, King Charles’ coronation will be remembered as a huge success. On the day of the royal coronation, thousands of Londoners lined the streets to support the royal family. However, there were also protestors who opposed King Charles and the fact that the coronation was largely funded by tax dollars.

Still, a huge audience watched the Westminster Abbey coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla. The event was the most watched TV broadcast of the year, as 20 million Britons tuned in at its peak on Saturday, according to reports. However, compared to the Queen Elizabeth II funeral in September of last year, which is estimated to have had a 29 million-person audience, it attracted significantly fewer people.
Additionally, Saturday’s rainy weather probably had an impact on the television viewing numbers. Many outdoor viewing parties were largely empty due to the bad weather, as reported by numerous newspapers.
Following a successful ceremony in Westminster Abbey, the royal couple celebrated their special day with the traditional handshake on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as jet planes flew overhead. Along with their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, Prince William and Kate greeted the crowd in front of Buckingham Palace.
A notable absentee, however, was one.
For many months, there was much discussion about Prince Harry attending the coronation. He eventually managed to travel across the pond in order to be present for his father’s special day, even though he had to accept a rather minor role in the events.
During this time, Meghan Markle, who was also formally invited, made the decision to remain in the US with the couple’s two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, as Prince Archie celebrated his birthday that day.
On the Buckingham Palace balcony after the Westminster Abbey ceremony, Harry was reportedly never invited to appear, according to the BBC.
In order to protect Harry, royals kept things “low-key” at the coronation.
Prince Harry was present for the coronation but left immediately for the US.
In order to attend the coronation, Harry and Meghan reportedly had a number of requirements, including being allowed to stand on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the most senior royals and having Archie’s birthday, which falls on May 6, acknowledged.
Harry ultimately had to make do with attending the coronation only as a guest and resigning from his official position as he had at the Queen’s State Funeral, where he walked in procession.
Harry made his first public appearance at the coronation since the explosive tell-all memoir Spare was published in January. He arrived in the UK on Friday, but he reportedly didn’t want to stay any longer than was necessary.
After the coronation service ended, Harry reportedly got into a car by himself in front of Westminster Abbey. At 19:30 local time on Saturday, he boarded a British Airways flight and arrived back in Los Angeles.
According to a source who spoke to Page Six, Harry planned to “make every effort” to return in time for Archie’s birthday. ”.
Harry’s participation in the coronation would be a “flying visit,” according to CNN royal historian Kate Williams”.
It won’t be a family reunion, but [Prince Harry] is coming for this important occasion of his father’s coronation. Big family gatherings won’t be frequent occurrences. Damage has undoubtedly been incurred, she said, adding that Harry’s presence was a “show of unity”.
Prince Harry’s attire and position.
Harry wore a three-piece custom black Dior suit with coattails inside Westminster Abbey. Military medals were pinned to the left side of his chest, and an honorary cross hung around his neck.
He is identified as the “Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order” (RVO) by the star around his neck. It also recognizes his individual service to the Commonwealth monarch. Since Harry is no longer a working member of the Royal Family, he was not allowed to wear his uniform. Instead, he wore a medal bar with his service medals for Afghanistan and jubilee medals in gold, diamond, and platinum.
Harry sat next to his cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who is thought to be the only royal to have visited Harry and Meghan in the US.
Other Royal Family members allegedly did not want Harry to be in their vicinity during the coronation, according to rumors that circulated months ago. Harry was given a seat two rows behind Prince William and Kate Middleton and two of their three children, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, indicating that attitude had changed. Being one of the Pages of Honor gave Prince George a much more important role.
There have been discussions about setting up the seating in a line of succession. But that would have placed Harry, who is fifth in line, front and center, alongside William and Kate, a source told The Sun.
Instead, it was decided to start with the royals at the front and work your way back.
Far away from his father, Harry will be”.
Harry’s opinion of the royal family is that he is “fed up.”.
At the Queen’s funeral last year, Harry was seated just one row back from his brother and immediate family.
Before the coronation started, Harry had a lengthy conversation with his cousin and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, while they were seated in the Abbey. He greeted several visitors and appeared to be in a good mood. Many watched the Duke throughout the ceremony to gauge his reaction.
He joined the other guests in one of the many renditions of “God Save The King,” despite possibly no longer being a supporter of the monarchy. ”.
Harry appeared to have made up his mind about the Royal Family and what might happen in the future, though, before the ceremony at Westminster Abbey had even begun.
According to reports, Prince William and King Charles have decided not to read Harry Potter’s enraging autobiography, Spare, in which he repeatedly insulted the royal family. His relationships with his brother and father are obviously at a low point, and while he was in the UK, there were reportedly no signs of them coming together.
Jerey Freeman, a lip-reader expert, revealed what he heard Harry tell Brooksbank prior to the start of the coronation ceremony in an interview with The Sun. The Duke was allegedly grumbling and muttering, “I’m tired of the way they treat me. ”.
In addition, Harry was overheard by Freeman saying: “It’s not the best situation. ”.
“They don’t care,”.
If I can do anything to make you feel better, even I can, Jack Brooksbank retorted. Is this the peaceful life?
Harry responded, “They aren’t concerned.
I have no time for that, especially if it’s already over, Jack Brooksbank continued.
It’s possible, Harry said in his conclusion.
Throughout the important day, Prince Harry avoided direct contact with both King Charles and his brother, Prince William. But when Harry got to Westminster Abbey, Judi James, a linguist, claimed that he made an “ingoring” gesture to his brother.
Harry appeared to ignore or divert his attention as his father, brother, and sister-in-law moved in front of him, according to James, who spoke to the Mirror.
“Harry had been talking animatedly to [Princess Beatrice’s husband] Edoardo, jerking a thumb over his shoulder at one point, sharing a giggling laugh that appeared to involve his tongue being placed between his teeth, and then doing a mutual, mirrored eye gaze with a matching lip clamp smile to Edo that seemed to signal mutual sympathy or empathy. ”.
The body language expert came to the following conclusion: “At a crucial moment in the ceremony when all eyes and attention were on Charles and William’s arrival, Harry turned his head to speak to Eduardo again in a very odd way. Harry was looking up as Charles, William, and Kate arrived to walk past. ”.
To protect him, royals kept Harry “low-key” during the coronation, according to experts.
Jonathan Sacerdoti, a royal authority, claims that Harry was protected by the Royal Family by their decision to keep him “low-key” during the coronation.
In an exclusive interview with the Express prior to the coronation, the commentator argued that despite past hostilities between the Duke and his family, they are ready to take any measures necessary to keep him hidden from prying eyes.
Speaking frequently about his mental illness and how he believes it was brought on by his role and the media attention he attracted, Sacerdoti told the Express that “he’s talked about how being in the Royal Family as a working royal was challenging to him and affected him mentally.”.
“So it’s possible that his family will go above and beyond to shield him from all of that by keeping his participation in the coronation quiet.
Of course, he will continue to be the subject of intense public scrutiny”.
A sign was interpreted by many when Harry attended his father’s coronation.
“It would have been improper to not invite him.”.
It is well known that both his relationship with his father, Charles, and his relationship with his brother, Prince William, are at an all-time low.
Still, the royals are holding out hope that in the end, family will prevail.
Harry likely believed he had no choice but to attend the coronation, according to Sacerdoti.
The event was primarily about family and being there for one another, not because the relationship has deteriorated over time and this was a way to patch it up.
“I believe Harry’s attendance at the coronation was inescapable. As the King’s son, it would have been wrong for him not to have received an invitation, and it would also have been wrong for him not to attend.
