Some of Lambert’s most loved dishes and stories are included in her cookbook. She admitted that her knowledge of cooking is undoubtedly generational.
She remarked, “My mother could create something out of nothing.”. We didn’t always have a lot of food in our house as kids because we didn’t have a lot of resources. Then, using the bare minimum, she would simply put together dinner. Due to its low cost and the fact that my mother would save the sauce from our garden, we ate a lot of spaghetti”.
Do the best with what you have is a small sign that my grandmother always had in her kitchen, so that’s probably where [Beverly] got that, she said. She used the same philosophy in both her life and her cooking. She gave it to my mother, who in turn gave it to me”.
Cooking, according to Lambert, gives her the opportunity to revisit memories of the people she values most.
“When I make something with my grandmother’s items, I can feel her close by. She is now back. And you just can’t put a price on that, in my opinion,” she added.
