Without a doubt, breastfeeding is one of the best ways for a mother and child to reunite. However, there is no consensus on when to wean a child off of breastmilk. The child should determine when to stop, according to this mother of two.
After the age at which it is deemed socially acceptable to do so, West Yorkshire resident Sheryl Wynne promotes breastfeeding young children. She exclusively breastfeeds her two sons who are old enough to begin school. When deciding when to wean her two children off of breastmilk, the 39-year-old mother of two decided to consult with them.
With Riley, her older son, turning three, she had planned to stop breastfeeding him.
When Riley was informed of her plans and asked for his opinion, Riley replied that he wanted to nurse until he was ten years old.
At first, she refused, telling the young child, “There’s no chance.
Wynne now wouldn’t have it any other way.
She claims that she uses it as a tool to console her children, who rush to her for comfort right away.
She believes it is perfectly normal to breastfeed her children despite the fact that they are 5 and 6 years old and have long passed the toddler stage.
The act, in her opinion, has helped her and her children become closer.
She continued, “They want to be with me and cuddle with me even when they are not nursing. ”.

When it came to breastfeeding her boys, Wynne said that her own family had been much less understanding than online dating partners. She claimed that her sons’ allegedly odd behavior was being attributed to them by relatives and friends. Wynne responded, “People think they are experts in other people’s children, but I’m not doing it blindly, even though I frequently follow my gut. ”. She adds that she will occasionally tell her children to “get off” and refuse to feed them if she doesn’t feel like doing so. But she always ensures that her choice takes into account their feelings and points of view.
She says that she has even breastfed her children in front of people on several occasions. She breastfed the kids in public areas like the playground. She admitted that she felt anxious during these times, but she overcame it because she didn’t want her kids to feel the same way. Because of a bad birthing experience she had with Riley, her older son, she insisted on nursing both of her sons. She felt guilty about not being able to properly breastfeed him. So she decided to try breastfeeding Riley again after having her younger son, Mylo.

Wynne is currently working to establish a new trend in which mothers should be free to select their own schedule for weaning their children. Because of this, they will feel closer to their kids. Wynne asserts that she has resisted their numerous attempts to stop her despite their repeated failures. She insists on making her own schedule with the help of her sons.
