In a heartbreaking turn of events, the body of Mohamed Abou Fofana, 4, who disappeared in a Boston park, has been discovered.
The Massachusetts State Police issued a statement on Monday afternoon confirming the tragic news.
The young child was discovered dead more than a mile from the park where he had gone missing 17 hours earlier, according to ABC affiliate WCVB-TV, and his tragic life came to an end.
Mohamed went missing, which prompted a significant search effort involving numerous authorities. Together, the Boston Authorities, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Boston Fire and EMS, and the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) looked for the child.
The search was mainly focused on the water that separates Dorchester Bay from the Boston Main Channel, according to information from NBC Boston.
At a press conference shortly before Mohamed’s dead body was discovered, the MSP made this crucial disclosure.
Mohamed’s mother, Matenjay Fofana, previously disclosed to the TV station that her son had autism, was nonverbal, and had a propensity to stray.
According to eyewitnesses, Mohamed and his family members played around seven o’clock with their grandfather, his 7-year-old sister, and other relatives.
Unfortunately, as his mother had told him, the grandfather had lost sight of Mohamed, which had resulted in an upsetting situation. If you see Mohamed, please give him to the police or call 911, Matenjay Fofana pleaded in an emotional voice”.
According to NBC News, the Massachusetts State Police have stated that as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s tragic death continues, no potential explanations for his disappearance have been ruled out.
Their Suffolk County-specific special detective unit will conduct the required follow-up death investigation.
In an effort to comfort them during this excruciatingly difficult time, the MSP tweeted a heartfelt message to Mohamed’s grieving family.
