The Robinson family purchased a home in a remote location with the intention of starting a farm there.
Mrs. Dot Robinson was compelled to deliver her second child, a boy, in just four months while still pregnant. In order to have the child’s room ready when the new member of the family was born, they began making preparations for it as soon as they moved into the new home.
The Robinsons loved animals, but because their landlord forbade them from having a dog because they lived in an apartment, they now yearned for at least one puppy.
The couple went to a shelter to select a dog with their 6-year-old son Matias. They desired a non-violent puppy that they could raise alongside the children on the farm.
They weren’t sure which puppy to pick after seeing the paddocks and hearing the tragic stories of some animals.
They passed a pit bull named Benson, who was 4 years old, as they were leaving the neighborhood. He appeared to have lost all faith in people as he took a step back with his tail tucked between his knees.
When the Robinson family inquired about Benson, the animal shelter staff informed them that he had a terrible life and gave them more information. After being dumped on the streets after being used in dog fights, volunteers discovered him there.
Benson spent some time in the dog shelter before being taken in by a couple. After only two weeks, they returned Benson to the shelter due to his aggressive behavior toward his owners and behavioral issues.
Mr. Robinson insisted on giving Benson a chance, so against the volunteers’ advice, Benson was adopted by a family with kids. Benson had trouble walking on a leash even on the path to the car, but they eventually arrived at their destination.
At first, Benson was very wary, timid, and reserved. Over time, especially with Matias, Benson was able to adjust and develop relationships with every member of the family.
After being brought home from Mrs. Robinson’s birth, Benson met the infant for the first time. He gently licked the infant’s face after taking a whiff. Benson’s lovely appearance and their compatibility were immediately apparent to the owners.
The Robinsons were startled out of their sleep one night when Benson was only two months old by his loud barking. He continued to bark and try to get into the crib, but the safety bars stopped him. In an effort to get to the baby, he started biting the crib.
The Robinsons were initially alarmed when they realized the infant was not breathing when they took the child into their arms because they believed Benson was attempting to harm the child.
He was brought to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals revived him. The doctor informed the parents that the infant would have passed away if he had endured a cardiorespiratory arrest for longer than 30 minutes.
Benson rose to fame and demonstrated that nothing occurs by chance. Nobody had ever given Benson a chance prior to the Robinson family, so Benson was able to save their child.
