Marlene Clark, who played characters in the movies “Slaughter,” “Ganja and Hess,” and “Switchblade Sisters,” passed away on May 18 at her Los Angeles residence.
Marlene Clark was deceased. She left a lasting impression on Sanford and Son and Ganja and Hess.
85 was her age.
The actress died on May 18 at her Los Angeles home, according to Tamara Lynch, a friend of the deceased.
Lynch called the late actress “an extraordinary woman,” and if you had the chance to meet her, you would have known right away that her one quality was grit. She had a very small frame and was extremely thin. She was almost like a Black Polynesian in her exoticism. She then started talking in a rich, deep voice. She had a very commanding tone to her voice when she spoke.
Lynch noted that Clark’s work ethic persisted up until her passing.
“She was tenacious in her love of art, film, and expression,” she observed. “Marlene would have attended the audition up until her passing. She would have taken care of anything. She was a member of the steadfastly traditional Hollywood cast of actors and performers. You are the one who puts in the work.
Arrival of you.
Before returning the following day, you go home and prepare your lines”.
And as soon as Clark entered the room, she raised the stakes, she continued”.
Despite the fact that some people might not have known her, Lynch acknowledges that her friend’s influence on the entertainment industry is still felt.
She said, “She’s one of those folks who gets lost in the seams. She participated in the group that broke down these doors, and her actions were unusual. The cosmos lacked sight. As a result, she is starting each and every action. She is therefore supporting this movement by taking part in these movies with these Black writers, directors, and actors. ”.
On Sanford and Son, Clark played Lamont’s (Demond Wilson) love interest, Janet Lawson, in one of his most enduring roles. Wilson paid tribute to the late celebrity on Twitter with the words “RIP beautiful actress Marlene Clark.”.
It was a genuine pleasure to work with you.
For Love of Ivy, a romantic comedy starring Sidney Poitier and Beau Bridges, was Clark’s acting debut before her part on Sanford and Son. She was selected to star in the Robert Downey Jr. -produced film Putney Swope, too.
Later, Clark appeared alongside Duane Jones in the spooky movie Ganja & Hess. She spoke about the film’s production in an interview she gave to Temple of Schlock in 2011.
She has such a multifaceted personality. Playing Ganga was “such a collection of contradictions,” she remarked. She claimed that playing that part was a lot of fun. And working with Duane was enjoyable. ”.
Slaughter, Switchblade Sisters, Night of the Cobra Woman, The Beast Must Die, Enter the Dragon, Black Mamba, and The Baron are just a few of the films in which The New Yorker appeared.
In addition to playing in Head of the Class, Flamingo Road, Highway to Heaven, and Barnaby Jones, Clark also made a return to television.
