On the first anniversary of his mother’s passing, Alec Baldwin posted an Instagram tribute to her legacy. She passed away on May 26, 2022, and her commitment to breast cancer awareness and research will be cherished. The legacy she left behind will be carried on by her six children, 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
It is hard to believe that the matriarch of the Baldwin family passed away more than a year ago. For his mother Carol Baldwin, Alec Baldwin said, “We miss her, but we continue to work to respect her legacy. He was very complimentary of The Baldwin Fund and urged people to help them in their struggle for change.
“Help us continue the mission she started, to love others, exhibit compassion, and find a cure,” Alec continued. The battle against breast cancer that my mother began in the 1990s needs to be continued; please help”.
Since its inception in 2001, the Baldwin Fund has given grants to more than 60 different research initiatives.
Alec Baldwin went to great lengths to tell the audience that his mother had died in May 2022. She learned she had breast cancer in 1991, and even though she was later declared cancer-free, she made the decision to keep fighting the disease in memory of all the other women who battle it every day and go through struggle and agony.
He continued by praising his mother for her work with SUNY Stony Brook following her cancer treatment. Alec claims that in 2022, with the assistance of Shirley Strum Kenny, the university’s then president, the Carol M. Dot Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund was created on the Stony Brook campus”.
After some time, SUNY Upstate University and another chapter were established, and their combined efforts helped raise millions of dollars for breast cancer research and awareness. During the final 25 years of her life, Alec continued, “She fought and championed the cause she put so much energy into.
The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center at Stony Brook Medicine, which was established in 1996 and sees hundreds of breast cancer patients each year, contributes to her legacy. Those who have recovered from the disease but still require support can take advantage of the facility’s survivorship program.
Alec Baldwin’s past 19 months have been difficult, starting with the tragic events that took place on the Rust set on October 21, 2021. While filming a scene while holding what he believed to be a toy gun but was actually a real one, Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cameraman Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin was initially charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter; however, those charges were later dropped in April 2023, allowing Baldwin to start the challenging process of moving on. He reportedly told his wife he no longer wanted to be a public figure after the tragic incident.
Recent claims that Alec Baldwin reprimanded a waiter on May 18 at the 2023 PEN America Spring Literary Gala got him into trouble. The waitress began placing the plates on the table, and Alec, who seemed to be talking to someone else at the time, seemed to object.
The waitress was perplexed as to why he yelled at her, one source said, and “I’m guessing he felt it was rude of her to start putting plates down while he was standing there.”. It was a brief conversation, though, and nobody else in the room seemed to pay attention.
