The woman described dealing with Mama June Shannon and Lauryn Eifird’s protracted custody dispute over Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson as the “toughest years” of her life.
The Toddlers and Tiaras alum revealed in a TikTok video that she suffers from depression.
Alana admits that the years between the ages of 14 and 16 were undoubtedly some of the most difficult of her life. She recently attended her high school prom.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever even graduate. She acknowledges, “Honestly, I didn’t know what to do during those years because I had been going through a terrible deep depression. I genuinely feel happy with my life right now. ”.
“I’m so happy that I can literally say that I graduated high school with a 3.0 and that I will be attending my dream college to become a neonatal nurse in August,” the reality star continues. ”.
According to Yahoo!, Thompson will begin attending Colorado’s Regis University in the fall. She received a $21,000 scholarship for her medical education.

When Alana was just 14 years old, Mama June was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, forcing Alana to move in with her older sister Lauryn. Alana will turn 18 on August 28th.
Lauryn filed for custody in December 2021 after taking care of her sister for two years, according to court records that In Touch was able to obtain.
Mama June was required to provide $800 in child support each month beginning on April 11, 2022, when Lauryn was given sole custody.
Even though Lauryn didn’t have to fill the role of a mother figure, she did, and you know, in our family, we’ve always stuck together, Mama June told In Touch in March 2021”.
Mama June has 100 hours of community service to finish by August 2021. Her ex-husband was given a sixteen-month sentence to serve in a community corrections program.
In an earlier interview with Teen Vogue, Alana talked about the effects her mother’s drug use had on her life.
It’s incredibly challenging. The general public is largely unaware of how much drug and alcohol use affects people. Sincerely, I don’t want anybody to go through that. I wasn’t sure where I would end up when my mother’s drug use got worse. She said, “I’m proud of myself and how far I’ve come.
