On Christmas morning, while looking for fossils, Molly Sampson, Alicia Sampson’s daughter, stumbled upon a massive Megalodon tooth, which was exactly what she had been hoping to see!
When Molly found out about the scene, according to Alicia, she was “beyond happy.”. She specifically requested waders built for shark tooth hunting as a Christmas gift because she had always wanted to do it.
In anticipation of grabbing her new discovery, Molly extended both of her hands. She recalled being initially startled and overwhelmed by the sight of it, unable to accept that it was real. After all, you didn’t come across a rare and gorgeous fossil like that every day!
The amazing turn of events stunned the Calvert Marine Museum, which praised Molly’s luck. Since she was a young child, Molly had been scurrying along beaches in search of shark teeth.
She had just arrived with a treasure that most people would never have the chance to find. That was truly amazing!
The determined young woman, instead of keeping her wonderful discovery to herself, decided to bring it to a nearby museum for careful examination.
She subsequently reported that the museum’s staff was ecstatic to see what she had found: a megalodon tooth that is thought to be 15 million years old. Particularly ones as enormous as Molly’s, these fossils are very uncommon.
Even social media was used by the Calvert Marine Museum to share their happiness. When people were exploring beaches, they were advised to get in touch with them if they came across any fascinating fossils so that they could be properly identified and recorded.
The museum also highlighted its “First Fossil Friday” program, which helps visitors recognize any unusual things they may have seen.
