Don Lemon asserts that CNN fired him.
Citing reports, it seems that Lemon’s employer told him that he was being fired.
He continued on Twitter, “I am stunned. I would have anticipated management to be courteous enough to let me know up front after 17 years at CNN”.
I never heard anything suggesting that I wouldn’t be able to continue doing the work I’ve always liked at the network. Bigger issues are present in the current situation”.
Lemon worked as an anchor for NBC Chicago and a correspondent for NBC News before joining CNN in 2006.
He gained notoriety while working for CNN for his vehement opinions and his criticism of cable television.
He recently came under fire for remarks he made about the former governor of South Carolina on the radio following Nikki Haley’s declaration that she would run for president in the 2024 election.
In a CNN This Morning segment, he asserted that she “isn’t in her prime”.
Women are thought to be at their best in their 20s, 30s, and possibly 40s”.
The reaction to his remarks was swift.
In response to Lemon’s tweet about being fired, CNN stated that the two “have parted ways”.
The broadcaster declared: “Don will always be a part of the CNN family, and we appreciate everything he has done for us over the past 17 years. ”. We’ll support him in his future endeavors and wish him luck. ”.
