There are some songs that are essentially universally recognized.
A timeless classic, “The Sound of Silence” was written by Simon and Garfunkel.
It had a poor reception after its 1964 release. The band did, in fact, disband.
That is how awful it was.
Listeners in Boston and Florida were the first to notice the song in 1965.
It has been cited, mocked, and of course covered by numerous musicians over the past 45 years.
It has been loved by generations and will continue to be. It can be eerie or uplifting.
The Chicago heavy metal band Disturbed produced the most recent noteworthy cover.
The band decided to perform the song live on Conan after the cover was made public because it gave the song new life.
With 90 million views, David Draiman of Disturbed’s performance of the song on Conan has become the show’s most popular YouTube video, earning praise from Simon himself.
But is there room for one more amazing cover?
The song is sung by 16-year-old Ruben Liversage of Disturbed, and he is amazing.
The song is performed by David Draiman to the fullest extent possible, highlighting in particular his deep and powerful voice.
Anyone who performs a cover of his song would need to have a voice with an air of authority.
Can a 16-year-old possess the skills necessary to compete with Draiman’s rendition?
Ruben Liversage, if he is that 16-year-old, yes, definitely!
And rather than just him singing into a microphone, his presentation features a full dance band and background singers.
They can clearly see that Ruben is a singer who merits investing time and effort in bringing to the forefront for a school concert.
He appears alone on stage in the beginning of his performance, obscured by spotlights as he introduces the song with the required frightful tone.
This young talent’s voice immediately strikes us as powerful.
Two contemporary dancers join Ruben in the performance, and their inventive lifts and balance-and-strength-required techniques add professionalism and a sense of artistic collaboration to the piece as a whole.
Ruben eventually moves into the illumination.
It’s hard to believe this kid is only 16 at this point in the show!
If you only used your ears, it would be understandable if you believed David Draiman was singing from behind the lights.
Ruben, on the other hand, does not have “snakebite” lip piercings or a bald head.
Isn’t this young man handsome?
When you think the show has reached its peak, it suddenly gets even better!
Ruben is being supported on stage by a throng of background singers and dancers.
If you didn’t already feel like you were at a formal event for the music industry’s next big star, you most definitely do now.
Practice time will be plentiful!
This is pretty impressive, especially given that they’re teenagers.
This is excellent entertainment!
In the video below, you can watch Ruben and his amazing dancers. They completely dominate.
Please let your family and friends KNOW about this.
