Heartwarming Gesture: Son Grows Out Hair to Make Wig for Mother Battling Cancer

The pituitary tumor, which is a benign brain tumor, was identified in Melanie Shaha of Gilbert, Arizona, in 2003.

She also experienced other symptoms, such as dull headaches, as a result of the tumor’s impact on the operation of the gland close to the base of her brain.

She tragically lost her hair as a result, making her defenseless and exposed. Thankfully, her son stepped up and let his hair grow out so that he could give his mother a wig to help her feel better about the way she looked.

The wig made from Melanie’s son’s hair serves as a wonderful reminder of the impact loving gestures can have during trying times.

Melanie Shaha was shocked to learn that her radiation treatment could cause hair loss. The unlucky side effect of hair loss persisted despite her three surgeries to remove a tumor from her body in 2006, 2017, and 2018.

Due to her lack of hair, Melanie felt uncomfortable being the center of attention when she was out in public. She found it difficult to blend in with other people when she was shopping or going about her daily activities.

To make matters worse, her son Matt made an offensive remark about it during a family lunch in 2018.

Matt showed his mother his love and devotion by growing out his hair. His hair was previously short, and it all began when he graduated from university.

He offered to grow Melanie Shaha enough hair to make her a wig after realizing a newfound sense of freedom with his hair. She initially resisted carrying the weight, but Matt persisted and by March 21st had expanded by 12 inches.

He then gathered his coworkers to assist in building the wig and cutting it off. She started crying as a result of Melanie’s intensely emotional response to this heartwarming exchange between her son and his mother.

After the hair was sent to Compassionate Creations in Newport Beach, California, Melanie received her hand-tied wig in June. This gesture will demonstrate to her in a way that words alone cannot that Matt loves her very much.

Co-founder of the business, Veronica Balch, was delighted to work with the family and found it inspiring that one was willing to shave their head for a member of the family.

Melanie was thrilled with her wig, which had been expertly cut, styled, and dyed in a gorgeous color. Matt, her husband, concurred that she looked fantastic in it.

He had poured love and comfort into Melanie’s emotional cup, and she would always be grateful to him for that.
