His post-verdict year has been unfair, despite the fact that I don’t like Johnny Depp or Amber Heard.

It was similar to witnessing a terrible train accident. I’m referring to the courtroom drama starring Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

When Depp v. An outcome in the case on June 1 of last year served as a reminder to every one of the reasons defense lawyers frequently advise their clients not to testify. Because they were both problematic, it was impossible to empathize with either celebrity.

Depp was portrayed as a childish Peter Pan-like figure throughout the trial due to testimony about his reckless spending, overindulgence, unrepentant and instantly recognizable swagger, inflated ego, screaming hissy fits, and teenage rock star-style partying.

Heard, on the other hand, had a cool, businesslike aura about him. She allegedly made the calculating decision to initiate divorce proceedings three days after Depp’s mother passed away, which didn’t help. Heard’s stoicism was broken up by brief, unanticipated tears, which led Depp’s lawyers to claim that she was acting (in reality, she couldn’t wait even another week). The dramatic aspects of the case, whether they were true or not, could not be discounted.

Nobody will ever forget the memorable events that occurred during the Depp and Heard trial. One year later, the memories of the alleged bed pooping are just as ingrained in our minds as the yellow curry stain on the white linen clothing. But despite the fact that I despise Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, it’s obvious that he has been treated unfairly in the year since the verdict.

The truth about their relationship, which only Johnny Depp and Amber Heard will ever know, is still up for debate. From the outside, it appeared that their relationship was toxic and that both parties had engaged in behavior that could have been classified as domestic violence. Even though neither Heard nor Depp were able to reflect upon or accept responsibility for their actions, one of them received a pass.

Depp unquestionably benefited significantly from his star power and notoriety in both the court of public opinion and the court of law. In a text message to Paul Bettany before having sex with Heard’s corpse, Depp had made jokes about dousing Heard in water and setting her on fire. Depp had Kate Moss on his side. I Heard Elon Musk while that was happening. I’ll stop here.

With bad jokes out of the way, Depp has had a successful and lengthy Hollywood career. He consistently produces chart-topping hits and has a devoted following.

Depp’s speedy recovery, in contrast to some experts’ assertions, was evidence of this power imbalance.

He has to give up his private jet and 10,000 boxes of Château Calon-Ségur because Disney fired him. Depp’s seven-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival last week, however, is a sign of his aspirations for the future. Heard appears to have disappeared in a cloud of smoke in the meantime.
