The former Little House on the Prairie star advised her followers to “don’t wait to get treated” and to take bug bites seriously after visiting the emergency room as a result of a bug bite.
Melissa Gilbert describes how a bug bite led to her hospitalization.
On Friday, the 59-year-old former Little House on the Prairie star shared two images from her hospital visit on Instagram. She also cautioned her followers to monitor their health and not ignore any bites that may at first seem insignificant.
She began her caption, “A Public Service Announcement: Well, that was a fun night in the ER.”. “Two days ago, a flying bug—not a bee or wasp—bit my arm. My arm became incredibly hot, red, and swollen by last night”.
My physician, @skincarelab, advised me to call the emergency room right away. When @timbusfield answered, “Absolutely not,” I was ready to wait. ”. I was diagnosed with cellulitis and an abscess after undergoing numerous tests, and we are departing”.
The National Library of Medicine states that an abscess can develop “almost anywhere” in the body. It is a “pocket of pus.”.
The American Academy of Dermatology states that cellulitis, also known as a staph infection, is a potentially fatal skin infection that develops when bacteria enter a lesion and go deep into the skin.
I received intravenous doses of clindamycin, Benadryl, and acetaminophen. Things started getting better right away. I was awake all night. Today, I’m starting on oral antibiotics, Benadryl, and ibuprofen,” Gilbert said.
Take insect bites seriously after learning this lesson. Don’t wait to get treated because you think it’s just a minor bite if it starts to swell up significantly (my entire upper arm was swollen!). To find out how much worse things can get, visit your doctor, the ER, or an urgent care center. She then said, “I’m serious. If Laura Ingalls Wilder had been alive, this would have led to her demise or amputation. There is the availability of treatment”.
In light of this, the actress declared, “I’m going to take my medications and rest like the good little bunny I am. a stupid bug bite. We especially want to thank Bonsecours Hospital in Port Jervis, New York. Currently returning to bed”.
Gilbert’s followers and other well-known people congratulated her on her post in a number of different ways.
Even though she was in pain, Donna Murphy, an actress, replied to the letter with the words “MAMA, REST and HEAL!”. Thank you, @timbusfield, for ordering you to visit the ER that evening.
A random bug is the root of all of this, said actor Michael Beach”.
