Living people visit cemeteries and favorite places to honor their deceased loved ones. The bereaved expect to feel protected and safe in this dark environment. But this sense of peace has been shattered by recent events.
In the harrowing video, two women walk up to the gravestone, pretending no one is watching. Women are filmed collecting flowers and other personal items left behind as souvenirs. What follows is a dastardly heist that puts many grieving families in danger and pain. It breaks my heart to think of how families must feel after visiting the grave of a loved one only to discover that the items they left behind have been taken away.
These items often have significant sentimental value and provide comfort to the bereaved family. There is no doubt that the heartless actions of these two men will cause great fear and suffering to their victims. It reminds us that we must protect our loved ones even after death.
A woman visited her father’s grave in a New London, Ohio cemetery two years ago. On Father’s Day 1977, I became concerned because the pot I had placed on my father’s grave was missing. Even though the pot was not expensive, the woman paid a lot of attention to it. An emotional tribute to him turned into a tragedy. The woman was upset about her loss and called the police for help.
Fortunately, CCTV footage helped authorities solve the case. As captured on camera, two women got out of a black sedan entering the cemetery. They moved and approached the headstone and began taking items. A 60-year-old woman was later charged with theft. Adding to the situation was the fact that one of the two women accused of robbery was a local elected official. The incident of gross theft by a government official is shocking.
Fortunately, justice was served thanks to security cameras. Two years later, the woman got her lawn back. This incident highlights the importance of security cameras in preventing crime and catching criminals.
