Alexia, the young girl whose hands were miraculously restored after an accident, was welcomed home by family and friends.
After being admitted to the hospital following the Pascani accident that resulted in the loss of some of her hands, Alexia underwent surgery to reattach her hands.
The operation was deemed a success, and on the first day of the New Year, Alexia was discharged from the hospital and embraced by the people she loved the most as she arrived home.
The joyous reunion of Alexia with her family and the celebration of her recovery left everyone inconsolable.
After a successful operation, Alexia was welcomed home by her family to jubilant cheers and tears. This was the first surgery of its kind to be finished at the European level after a skilled team of medical professionals worked on it for more than 50 hours.
In addition to Mara Popescu, the team also included Daniela Botez, Bogdan Caba, Laurens Gardikiotis, Roxana Cretu, Romica Rusu, Andrei Ivan, Lavinia Lonescu, Veaceslav Cuciuc, Tudor Ciobanu, Dana Horobet, and Mimi Fermesanu.
It was a notable success for all parties involved as it was only the second bilateral arm replantation that has been recorded in Europe.
Alexia spoke of feeling a deeper sense of calm than while in the hospital, in addition to her joy at being reunited with her loved ones. Her father was relieved when she arrived home safely.
