Remembering the Legacy of Robin Williams

Robin Williams is an accomplished actor and comedian whose comments and quotes have touched the hearts of many.

Although he had personal problems, he had an incredible ability to make people laugh. Williams lived a life that exceeded everyone’s expectations.

On August 11, 2014, the world was shocked and saddened by the sad news that beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams had committed suicide. According to the post-mortem report (Motor Control), Williams suffered from Lewy body dementia (LBD), a neurological condition in which protein deposits known as Lewy bodies form on nerve cells in the part of the brain responsible for thinking, memory and movement.

Many people were shocked because Williams suffered from Parkinson’s disease all his life. LBD, a progressive degenerative disease, permanently robbed Williams of his memory, mobility and ultimately his life.

We can only imagine what his extreme pain and suffering must have been like before he decided to end his life. Robin’s wife, Susan Schneider, treated her husband’s symptoms as a never-ending game of kicking.

Each month, he said, he was left in the dark as he scrambled to find solutions to new situations. Actor and close friend of Williams, Billy Crystal, witnessed the dramatic change in his appearance in a short period of time.

Crystal also admitted that one day Robin told her, “I can’t be funny anymore.” After suffering a panic attack, she found herself unable to smile at work and burst into tears. Williams’ health began to deteriorate as death approached. The actor, who had memorized tens of thousands of lines of dialogue without making a mistake, began to have memory difficulties on the sets. According to the Mayo Clinic, people with Lewy body dementia may experience visual hallucinations and changes in attention and concentration.

She was going through a difficult time full of anxiety and frustration. He couldn’t respond and his actions made it worse.

Dementia with Lewy bodies is difficult to diagnose because it combines symptoms with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. The actor’s wife, Susan Schneider Williams, addressed the actor’s misdiagnosis. He said that his pathology was one of the worst that doctors had ever seen. Despite the couple’s repeated attempts at treatment, Williams’ health gradually deteriorated. He suffered from indigestion, heartburn and stomach cramps. His left hand began to shake quietly.

The couple did not know what would happen next. Her vision and smell problems are so frustrating that she can’t sleep. He later suffered from dyskinesia which sometimes caused him to stop moving. Susan likened it to a game of whack-a-mole, where she tried everything to get rid of her symptoms but came up empty-handed.

Williams’ friends noticed in the fall of 2013 that he looked thinner and thinner than usual. Williams became increasingly aware that his mental state had worsened after taking antipsychotic medication, which made his condition worse.

Williams killed himself because he couldn’t deal with what he was going through. Robin Williams was an actor with a remarkable talent for bringing various characters to life on screen. His sudden death shocked many who knew and loved him. We may not know when Robin Williams battled her demons, but she will always be remembered for the joy she brought into our lives. He killed himself and left behind a legacy of love and happiness. Rest in peace.
