There are many of us who have busy days where we hurriedly complete each activity in order to finish everything by the deadline.
Everyone has experienced those times when it’s difficult to find the time to even plan our meals, much less go to the bathroom.
But when we stop, it’s nice to have five minutes to unwind and eat. This right extends to a law enforcement officer as well.
PC Andre Owen was shamed by a woman for taking his lone and only break during a 12-hour shift to get lunch.
After the committed officer’s social media response gained widespread attention, thousands of people have come to his support.
Andre Owen is aware of the challenges that officers face every day. Due to his position as a police constable, he is also aware of the efforts made by law enforcement officials all over the world to maintain public safety.
Naturally, hardworking individuals like our police officers and cops require breaks from time to time.
They pretend to be superheroes while saving lives, but they are still only people.
After seven hours of nonstop work, Police Constable Owens took a break. He still had a 100-mile drive and paperwork to finish.
He stopped at Burger King for a quick visit to get through the last few hours of his shift.
Sadly, there was one diner who didn’t give a damn. She made Owen feel bad by pointing out that he had purchased food while he was working.
PC A woman approached Owen as he got back into his car and started the long drive back to his station.
The police need to find criminals outside while you’re inside stuffing your face. ”.
The officer then launched his strongest defense.
Owen took to Twitter to express his shock at the woman’s reaction to him taking a break to eat after giving endlessly to others.
He stated that while he was waiting to pick up his order, the woman who had criticized him for purchasing food was allegedly staring at him.
PC Owen, a dedicated officer, received a lot of support after his post was widely shared. Five years into his position with the Sussex Police, Owen started to receive more attention than he had ever imagined.
“I tweeted it, and it attracted immediate attention and a lot of positive feedback. According to The Evening Standard, he insisted that the tweet’s goal was to inform the public about the reality of what is typical in the UK, not to show sympathy.
According to the policeman’s statement to The Mirror, he had a very busy day before the woman yelled at him.
At three o’clock, he was about to end his shift. m. that day and was already famished and exhausted.
I was given a significant job offer in Brighton after just five minutes on the job. I had to drive continuously to Oxford as part of the same assignment after taking care of that.
“I stopped for the day’s first time at a service station to use the restroom a half-hour into the return trip. While I was there, I also purchased a double whopper meal, a cappuccino, a Coke, and an apple pie.
When she noticed the officer in uniform, the unnamed female assumed the worst about the circumstance.
“A lady, eating her food, kept staring at me,” Owen recalled as I waited.
As I ate, she said, “While you’re in here stuffing your face, there are criminals that need to be caught.”. I grinned and moved stealthily away.
The police officer claimed that after he offered to assist a family with a broken-down car, his already lengthy shift—which had already been extended to 12 hours—became much longer.
He didn’t pause even though his shift was already finished. A family was helped to escape harm when Owen intervened, blocked traffic, and intervened.
“I then waited for recovery to locate them while securing everyone in the vicinity with my blue lights. Owen asserted that it caused my already long day to be extended by an additional hour.
To return to the station, he would sadly still need to travel 100 miles. He still needed to finish some papers before he could go back home.
7:00 p.m. marked the end of his shift.
He continued, “I enjoy my job and, on the whole, wouldn’t trade it for the world, even though it’s lengthy and the lady at the time annoyed me.
We are appreciative of PC Owen for all that he has done to keep our streets safe and I’m sure that many police officers can relate to PC Owen’s story.
Despite working long hours and receiving low pay, the majority of police officers genuinely like their jobs.
It takes a lot of commitment to put your life in danger for strangers, many of whom would despise you for the trivial offense of taking a lunch break.
So the next time you see an officer grabbing a quick bite, smile instead of making assumptions.
Sometimes we don’t know about their struggles or what they might face in the future. Also keep in mind that police are just regular people.
