The 87-year-old French legend has worked in the entertainment industry for over 50 years, acting, directing, and producing films.

The Italian performer Monica Vitti co-starred with him in Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1962 film The Shroud.

At the Cannes Film Festival, he was nominated for the Palme d’Or and received a Special Jury Award for his performance.

He gained even more international fame for his role in Visconti’s sweeping drama The Leopard from 1963.

He makes up for lost time in the social and political upheavals of Italian unification during the nineteenth century as Sovereign Tancredi Falconeri in the movie The Panther, the nephew of an older Sicilian blue-blood (Burt Lancaster).

The United States, the most lucrative market for European performers, was Delon’s main goal in the 1960s.

Delon was often cast as the stereotypical Latin love interest because of his French accent and European good looks.

Despite this, he was given supporting parts in films like The Yellow Rolls-Royce (1965), which also starred Shirley MacLaine.

The activity movie Lost Order (1966), which Alain made after signing with Columbia, is his most enduring work. He portrayed a member of the French Unknown Army who lived nearby Claudia Cardinale and Anthony Quinn.

Following that, he appeared alongside Dean Martin in Western Texas Over the River. Despite his best efforts in Hollywood, the French sensation was not as successful in America as he had hoped.

One of the first Western movies to be screened in Communist China after the Cultural Revolution was Zorro, which debuted in 1975. Furthermore, it brought European cinema to Communist China, Latin America, and Japan.

Following the breakup of his five-year relationship with Romy Schneider, he wed actress Nathalie Delon in 1964. Anthony was their son’s name. Before 1969, they were still married.
