Under the handle @kaylendoesstuff, travel vlogger Kaylen posted about her “excruciatingly painful” experience getting her lips blushed.
A travel blogger from Colombia who posted a video of her “failed” lip-blushing treatment went viral.
In a TikTok video that has since received over 15.3 million views, Kaylen, also known online as @kaylendoesstuff, captured the incident and its shocking outcomes.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, lip blushing, a semi-permanent tattoo, can improve the color and shape of your lips and give them the appearance of being fuller. To improve the appearance overall, color ink is applied to the lips and the lip line. To achieve results that look natural, color is usually muted.
Watching her lips in the mirror as she drove to her appointment, Kaylen can be heard saying, “Wait, I actually really like my lips, maybe I shouldn’t do this.”. And as my body started to feel numb, I made the decision to head home. However, I chose not to return home.
Kaylen requested a pink tint, but the doctor recommended a “bright ruby red” color instead, claiming that it would eventually turn pink. She hesitated for a moment, then decided to agree.
The 23-year-old content creator continued by describing how she was “suffering” during the application process and how the results were upsetting while also showing a close-up of her severely swollen, red lips that had left her speechless.
It was intolerable to be uncomfortable. I was incredibly swollen, it was agonizingly painful, I was numb, and I looked terrible,” she remembered. Just buy lipstick if you’re thinking about having this done, I suggested. I had to plead with her to stop because it hurt so much. I simply looked the worst out of everyone who completed this task”.
Kaylen posted the outcomes of the lip-blushing procedure on her YouTube channel. The next day, the swelling gradually started to go down, but she found the red tint peeling to be “nasty and disgusting”.
After four days, she was no longer peeling, the red tints had all vanished, and her lips had turned a deep purple color that was only getting “darker and darker”.
Even on day 16, Kaylen remarked that her lips looked “way worse than before”.
Although she insisted that she went to a “fancy” place for the lip blushing, she acknowledged that it was “not worth it” because of the discomfort, swelling, peeling, and waiting period.
Kaylen also mentioned that the therapy cost her $50, which is yet another reason why she wouldn’t suggest it given that it would be much less expensive in the US.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, insurance does not provide coverage for lip blushing, and each session typically costs between $500 and $1,500.
The experience, according to Kaylen, has given her priceless lessons about loving and accepting oneself and about being beautiful.
“Obviously, you can enhance your beauty with makeup, false eyelashes, nails, and other things like that, but your nose is the right shape, hips are the right size, and lips are the right color,” she said.
The whole experience has taught me that I am perfect just the way I am. I don’t want anything to change. Fixing an unbroken thing is a bad idea. ”.
