Tiny Home Big Bonds See How Grandparents Reconnect with Grandkid.

Ty and Bonny, a retired couple, have chosen an innovative way to stay close to their grandchildren: moving into a cozy tiny home.

With their two children now grown and starting their own families, Ty and Bonny wanted to be nearby for their seven grandkids. Living in a 3,000-square-foot house filled with unnecessary belongings no longer made sense, so they decided to downsize and find a home that perfectly suited their new lifestyle.

Finding the Perfect Spot

Their new home, lovingly named “Journey,” is situated in Liberation Tiny Homes at the picturesque Tiny Estate Village in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. From their tiny abode, they enjoy a beautiful view of a serene pond.

The interior of their home exudes a charming farmhouse style, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The living area features two comfortable chairs for relaxation. Adjacent to the living space is a dining table with a cleverly designed bench that can be tucked under and attached to the wall, saving valuable space.

Custom Furnishings and Thoughtful Design

Ty, who is skilled in woodworking, used his talents to create many of the furniture pieces in their home, including the bench. On the opposite side of the table, they have a small bar and office area, complete with a printer and their favorite drinks on display. Given their love for boating, Ty and Bonny keep their shoes in bins to maintain a clean and organized space. The stairs leading up to the loft also serve as storage, housing their dresser and other belongings.

A Surprisingly Spacious Kitchen

Their kitchen, despite the home’s small size, is surprisingly spacious and offers ample storage for all their needs. They even have a small air fryer and a gas burner for occasional cooking adventures. At the end of the house, a bathroom with sliding doors efficiently saves space. The bathroom is equipped with a small sink, shower, and toilet, covering all their essential needs.

A Cozy and Functional Sleeping Loft

Above the bathroom and kitchen is a cozy sleeping loft featuring a queen-size bed with convenient remote controls for the lights. With windows on both sides, the loft allows a pleasant breeze to flow through, creating a serene sleeping environment. Although it took some time to adjust, especially for Ty who stands six feet tall, they have grown accustomed to the size of their tiny home and now appreciate the peace and quiet it offers.

Ty and Bonny’s decision to embrace the Tiny Estate lifestyle has enabled them to live comfortably in a smaller space while maintaining a high quality of life. Most importantly, it has brought them closer to their cherished grandchildren, fulfilling a grandparent’s dream.
