Grace and Rob Jones were thrilled to discover a time capsule while remodeling their 63-year-old home in Crystal Lake, Illinois. As Rob used chisels and pliers to remove the original toilet paper holder, he noticed a strange substance poking out of a corner.
Two McDonald’s hamburger wrappers and a neatly organized side of fries were discovered inside the wall after they continued their search. The packaging featured the fast food restaurant’s original logo, which debuted in 1955.
The discovery was remarkable for its age because, despite being wrongfully imprisoned for decades, it still had all of the potato-like flavors.
It served as a poignant reminder of how much time had passed, but it also demonstrated the enduring nature of some things, like delicious french fries.
Rob and Grace were overjoyed to discover a time capsule while remodeling their home. They found old McDonald’s products, including wrappers bearing the original logo and mascot of the company, Speedee.
Grace recalls that her mother was there in 1995 when the first McDonald’s in Des Plaines, Illinois, was officially opened.
Rob and Grace had the feeling they had been transported back to the early days of one of the most famous fast food restaurants in the United States as a result of this.
Grace told Today about her grandmother’s first experience with a fast food restaurant.
She emphasized how amazed and thrilled her grandmother was to return to such a special occasion from her youth, one that she could remember not only the cost of the food but also the atmosphere.
Grace said that if someone offered them a fair price, they would be happy to sell the original wrappers and the French fries that they had stored in a jar above their refrigerator for many years.
