The most enthusiastic wedding day guest is 2-year-old Pierson Mihelich.
When Kristie Mihelich was planning her ideal wedding, she could never have imagined that her son would wind up being the focal point of the event.
Following a postponement due to the coronavirus outbreak, Mihelich, 40, and Bobby, her husband, were married on April 22 in West Bloomfield, Michigan. They were initially business partners but later became romantically involved.
God had really quick plans for us, Mihelich told TODAY Parents, given that we became pregnant. The parents declared that their son Pierson would always serve as the ring bearer.
As the wedding ceremony began, “Canon in D” began to play, and Pierson, age 2, joined his father at the altar as everyone waited in anticipation for the bride to appear.
Little Pierson marveled as the doors flung open and the groom wiped away a tear.
Then, the excited young boy lost control of his excitement.
Pierson yelled and waved before sprinting toward her as the audience laughed and cheered.
Mihelich ended up having Pierson, who will turn 3 on May 4, and her brother Kirk walk with her down the aisle.
The experience was “the sweetest thing on the planet,” according to Mihelich. Actually, I was so happy with my marriage that I could have left right then.
Mihelich acknowledged to TODAY that she had some initial reservations about Pierson’s actions on the big day.
He had been screaming bloody murder all through the rehearsal dinner the night before, and she had her brother-in-law take him outside and for a walk because he just wasn’t having it. He never got a chance to practice, so to speak, walking down the aisle.
Samantha Mihelich, a niece of the couple, uploaded a video of the incident to TikTok, where it has received over 950,000 views.
Mihelich is grateful to have the recording.
The woman said, “My brother-in-law was so excited and he jumped right in front of the camera while it was happening,” adding that the videographer did not get a good recording of the incident. I was extremely appreciative that it could be downloaded to the iPhone.
According to Mihelich, Pierson’s “energy” on her wedding day set the tone for the entire evening.
“I couldn’t have planned it any other way and I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Mihelich said of her son. His father loved it as well, finding it to be so priceless and sweet for his mother.
