Pat Sajak, the “Wheel of Fortune” host, describes what transpired a month after undergoing emergency surgery for a blocked intestine.
Sajak acknowledged to “Good Morning America” in his first interview after the procedure that he had feared dying just before it.
While walking his daughter every day in November, the game show host began to feel “excruciating” agony. A few hours later, he was hunched over in agony and on the verge of surgery.
He said, “I was in the fetal position on the bed. “They try to treat your pain with a variety of drugs. Each and every one of them failed to work. ”.
Later, according to him, he received a painkiller from his medical staff, he claimed.
He explained, “I suddenly wasn’t thinking about the discomfort.”. “I recently acquired some incredible pastels, which were flowing out of it. ”.
“I could overhear my wife and daughter talking. They were right next to me, but they sounded far away,” the man said. They were talking to one another. Without being morbid, I remember thinking that this must be death. This must be how death feels like. ’”.
He continued, adding that he was concerned about his wife and children at the time, that they would “have to deal with the fallout.”.
Naturally, Sajak survived the procedure, proving that his fears of dying were unfounded.
It turns out I was just high, he laughed.
Sajak’s procedure was “totally successful,” according to “Good Morning America. ”.
He asserted that doctors had not discovered an underlying cause for the intestinal blockage. As a result, he need not change his way of life.
For several weeks, Sajak said, “I’ve been feeling really great.”. “I have resumed performing shows in the studio. Nothing popped even after turning the wheel. I therefore think that is acceptable. ”.
Sajak’s longtime co-host Vanna White covered for him while he was out of commission. Sajak made light of his concern that she’ll take over as the chat’s primary host.
He admitted, “I found out she likes hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”.
Despite his jokes, Sajak seems at ease in his role on “Wheel of Fortune.”. ”.
He said, “I’m still on my guard.
