After trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant since they wed in 2008, a North Carolina couple recently welcomed their first child. After trying to conceive for more than ten years, Susie, 50, and Tony Troxler, 61, gave birth to a baby girl in September 2021.
You’re going to need a lot of help instead, they said, and the answer was no.
When you strip away all of the official medical jargon, it was a no, Susie said.
“They always said it nicely, but at the end of the day, it was a no.”. Despite all of their challenges, the couple now has a 2-month-old.

The Troxlers visited a fertility clinic, where medical professionals tried a number of techniques to help the couple conceive. All of that failed, Susie said, and we were down to our last embryo. Lily, their first child, was born on September 29. “They take me into the ultrasound, and the first thing they said was, ‘Oh, she’s moving!’ I was like, ‘Yes!’.
