“Safe and Sound: Abducted Girl Featured on Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ Reboot Discovered Unharmed in North Carolina”

Her appearance on the Netflix reboot of Unsolved Mysteries has allowed authorities to identify the mother of a young girl who was abducted by her in July 2017. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Kayla Unbehaun, who was nine at the time of the abduction, was located in Asheville, North Carolina.

After being charged with removing her from South Elgin, Illinois, in 2017, her mother, Heather Unhebhaun, was detained.

Kayla was only nine years old when her non-custodial mother took her.

Apparently, on July 5, when Kayla’s father went to pick up his daughter from her mother’s house, he was unable to find her, according to local news reports. According to reports, on July 4, Heather loaded Kayla into her car and drove away. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has posted an image of Kayla as a nine-year-old online alongside an image showing her age progression since her disappearance. In order to spread awareness, a Facebook page was created, and on occasion, a local news report about her disappearance would run. Additionally, Kayla appeared on the Netflix reboot of Unsolved Mysteries, and it was her appearance on the series that led to her rescue.

According to reports, a store owner saw Kayla and called the police after watching an episode of the show recently. WSOC-TV reports that this is the case.

Authorities took Kayla, who is 15 years old, into custody and picked up Heather. “I am overjoyed that Kayla is safe at home. Thank you to the South Elgin Police Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and all law enforcement agencies that assisted with her case, I would like to say. I also want to thank each and every one of the “Bring Kayla Home” Facebook page fans for their support in raising awareness and keeping her story alive. Kayla’s father said, “We humbly request privacy as we rekindle our relationship and navigate this new chapter.”. Heather is currently detained on a $250,000 bond in anticipation of being extradited to Illinois. Despite the fact that it will take some time for everyone to catch up for the lost years, I’m incredibly glad Kayla made it home. The healing procedure must begin immediately.
