Now, Banana Republic is joining the movement, featuring a baby with Down syndrome in the latest ad for its BR Baby line. This heartfelt campaign demonstrates the brand’s commitment to sustainability, warmth and inclusivity.

The company stated, “The BR Baby collection was designed with a promise to be more sustainable, more welcoming, and more inclusive. We want to celebrate diversity in all forms, and in the casting for BR Baby, we saw a perfect opportunity to lead the way. We were thrilled to give this beautiful and loving individual his first modeling job.”

Cathy Driscoll, founder and president of Changing the Face of Beauty, an organization dedicated to equal representation of people with disabilities in media, said that including disability representation in advertising allows companies to make her feel “excited.”
She emphasized that people with disabilities need to be seen and recognized because they are the largest minority group in the world. One in five families have a personal connection to or love for a disabled person, making inclusive representation even more important.
As we see more and more brands embracing diversity and inclusion, we hope that the portrayal of people with disabilities will become the norm rather than the exception.
