Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann have been married for more than 18 years, during which time they have raised three kids together—two adopted and one biological.
It makes sense that the “Law and Order: SVU” star always looks for new methods to strike a balance between her personal and professional lives. She still describes having her family around as “pleasant chaos,” though.

Most people immediately think of Olivia Benson from NBC’s “Law and Order: SVU” when they hear Mariska Hargitay’s name. Along with bringing her popularity, the play also aided her in meeting her true love, co-star Peter Hermann.
Mariska Hargitay will never forget the day she met Peter. She admitted on The Drew Barrymore Show that she was apprehensive when she first saw him.

In November 2001, Hermann appeared on the programme as a guest star during its third season. Eventually, they got married, and it wasn’t until much later that Hargitay talked openly about her first feelings for Hermann.
Hermann was so attractive on set that Hargitay claims she initially found him “distracting” before she ultimately warmed up to him.
Hargitay remembered, “He was really handsome, and it was distracting.” Then, when he returned the other day, all the producers gave me their whole attention. I had never before treated somebody that way. It was amusing because I was 35 and single, and my friends were telling me to get out more because nobody would show up on my programme and propose to me.

A few months after they initially met, they went on their first date, which they had at a church. The unusual date must have been helpful to the couple because Hargitay realised Hermann was the one for her at that point. In the end, the couple wed in Santa Barbara in August 2004 in front of 200 guests. The loving couple celebrated 18 years of blissful marriage in August 2022.
The two still have the energy to dance the night away, even after 18 years. Even more recently, they shared a video of themselves dancing together at a friend’s western-themed wedding.
After being posted, the video understandably became popular online. Celebrity friends and colleagues congratulated the couple and praised their dancing in their comments.
The couple is amply demonstrating that one need not be young to be in a fulfilling relationship.

They had no idea that their second child would nearly land on their laps. After being present for Amaya Josephine’s birth in 2011, they adopted her.

At the time, the first son August, who was then four and a half years old, also fell in love with the new member of their family.
