Danielle and Adam Busby, stars of the Netflix film OutDaughtered, spoke candidly about the unusual parenting difficulties brought on by Danielle’s struggle with an autoimmune disease.
In an interview with Us Weekly on Monday, July 10, Danielle, 39, who is promoting the premiere of season 9 of OutDaughtered, said, “I used to not be able to get upstairs without feeling like I was going to pass out.”. “That simply isn’t the norm for me. We’ve always taken care of ourselves, and I’ve always been athletic and somewhat fit. Because of this, it was alarming to see my body decline so much.

Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker were Danielle and Adam’s quintuplets, and after giving birth to them in 2015, Danielle started to notice something was wrong. Blayke, now 12 years old, is the couple’s other child.
Prior to the birth of Blayke in 2011, Danielle had previously struggled with infertility. She had first tried IVF to become pregnant. She later chose Femara, a medication for people with PCOS that boosts fertility. This choice resulted in her first pregnancy.

Danielle resumed taking Femara in an effort to grow their family once more, and as a result, she became pregnant with the quintuplets.
“Because of the constant movement after I had [them], my body never really recovered. For years, I had been living on adrenaline, Danielle said. “My body wasn’t used to this, so when my body began to slow down and they started school and were in kindergarten — or really, first grade — my body wasn’t used to this. Consequently, I experienced this shock. ”.
Due to Danielle’s tense and inflamed muscles, her doctor “diagnosed” her with “migraines,” and she was treated for “fibromyalgia.”. However, Danielle told Us that because she experiences both good and bad days, her condition is still a work in progress.
She continued, “Sometimes it’s hard to even explain what I’m feeling or how my body is reacting to something even in the view of Adam because he’s like, ‘You look fine, you [were] fine yesterday.'”. “It’s annoying, it’s frustrating, and there are days when I didn’t do anything extreme, off-set, or something, and [I] just will get up and I can’t move my hands and my feet, so… it’s an up and down journey.
Adam, 41, admitted to Us that while it is “definitely tough” to watch his wife struggle with her condition, he chooses to be “supportive” and make sure Danielle has everything she needs.
“With an autoimmune disorder, that is the thing. There are a lot of, like, unknowns; you don’t know what it is, you don’t know when it’s going to flare up, etc.,” he said. “Like, she might be completely fine one day and then find it difficult to get out of bed the next. ”.
Despite her highs and lows, Danielle proudly informed Us that as of Monday, she hadn’t experienced a migraine in “probably six months.”. ”.
OutDaughtered has returned after a two-year break, adding to the Busby family’s joy. Since the TLC program’s first season in 2016, the family has appeared on it.
Adam said of returning to the reality series, “We just picked up right where we left off.”. Because the crew members who returned from this past season are like family to us, it was cool to see them and it felt like old times. ”.
On Tuesday, July 11, at 9 p.m. ET on TLC, the ninth season of OutDaughtered will debut.
