In 2003, Melanie Shaha of Gilbert, Arizona, learned she had a benign brain tumor called a pituitary tumour.
The woman experienced dull headaches as a result of the tumour’s impact on the gland close to the base of her brain, among other symptoms. Her hair tragically fell out. She was thus rendering her vulnerable and exposed. Fortunately, her son stepped up and allowed his hair to grow out so he could give his mother a wig to make her feel better about how she looked.
The wig created from her son’s hair serves as a lovely reminder of the positive effects of loving actions. In a trying time, Melanie required comfort.
Melanie Shaha was shocked to learn that her radiation therapy could result in hair loss. Her three surgeries to remove a tumour from her body in 2006, 2017, and 2018 did not stop the unfavorable side effect of hair loss.
It was difficult for Melanie to blend in with other people when she was out in public because she didn’t like being the center of attention due to her lack of hair. Additionally, she had trouble finding food to eat and going about her daily business. Adding insult to injury, her son Matt made a disparaging remark about it in 2018 at a family lunch. Matt let his hair grow out as a way of demonstrating his love and dedication to his mother. It all started when he graduated from college, when his hair was still short.
He offered to grow enough hair to make Melanie Shaha a wig after discovering a newfound freedom with his hair. Matt persisted despite her initial resistance, and by March 21st, she had gained 12 inches. He then enlisted the aid of his coworkers to construct the wig and cut it off. When Melanie heard this touching conversation between her son and his mother, tears began to fall down her cheeks. In June, Melanie received her hand-tied wig from Compassionate Creations in Newport Beach, California, after the hair was sent there. This act will serve to remind her of Matt’s undying love in a way that words cannot.
Veronica Balch, a co-founder of the company, was delighted to work with the family and thought it was admirable that someone would be willing to shave their head for a relative. Melanie was overjoyed with her wig, which had been expertly cut, styled, and colored. She thought it looked fantastic on her, and Matt agreed.
