In 1994, “Elvira” Cassandra Peterson sold Brad Pitt the home, which he later acquired. In a recent interview with People, she discussed another unexpected role that Pitt played in addition to becoming a new homeowner.
Brad Pitt, then 54, gave Elvira Cassandra Peterson $1.7 million in 1994 for a 1.9-acre property. He kept the house for 30 years, finally selling it this past March.
In an exclusive interview with People that was recently conducted, Peterson discussed her sale to the Oscar winner, their close proximity, and Pitt’s unexpected tenant.
The actress claims that Pitt’s addition to the house served as the catalyst for the subsequent actions.
“I estimate there were 22 houses or so near the property line. And whenever one became available, he purchased one,” the actress said.
An elderly man in his 90s lived in one of those houses. Pitt agreed to purchase the man’s homestead on the family’s property.
He was very generous with the husband. According to Peterson, John the husband allegedly stayed behind after his wife passed away. “I am aware that Brad gave him free rent until his passing there”.
But the man lingered a little longer than he had anticipated: “It was kind of funny because John lived to be 105”.
The actress chuckled and said, “I can only imagine Brad was thinking, well, you know, he can live there until he dies, which might be any second now. John simply never stopped living”.
Peterson lived next to Pitt for many years after purchasing a home close to her previous home. She described him as generous and kind. She cited an instance when she bumped into Pitt while out walking her dog:.
As I walk by Brad’s garage, I only notice that he is wearing sweatpants. He’s using boxing gloves and a punching bag. My word, I almost passed out”.
I still remember his question, “Hey, how are you?,” to which I replied, “Huh. I couldn’t speak. I started to flush. She says, “I thought I was going to pass out. He’s also incredibly kind, which is the cherry on top. He is simply incredibly attractive.
Before divorcing in 2016, Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, along with their children, lived there for a number of years.
