Gouveia claimed in an interview that his son had been learning to sew for more than a year and had been inspired to take up the hobby by his great-aunt Val.
“His great-aunt is a master seamstress. Her clothes are all hand-sewed. She has always made us gifts, so he thought it was really cool, Gouveia said in the interview. As a result, she has been imparting new knowledge to him for the past few years, and eventually he felt the need to advance”.
At his neighborhood Franklin Mill Store, Sam has been picking up sewing skills. The nine-year-old boy’s father claims that he has made his cousin’s dress, a pillowcase, a shirt, as well as his brother’s cat pajamas and a variety of scrunchies.
According to Gouveia, “I was so impressed and flattered that he wanted to make it for me.

Gouveia is the author of two books: “Men and Miscarriage” and “Raising Boys to Be Good Men.”. The night he received the shirt as a gift, he claimed he wore it to his father’s birthday dinner and that he would do so again soon.
